Tri City Aikido – Martial arts in Fremont, CA
Celebrating 30 Years of Aikido Excellence
Welcome to our newly relocated martial arts dojo at 37427 Fremont Blvd, Fremont, CA 94536, directly across from Holy Spirit Church. After three decades of enriching our community with traditional Japanese martial art of Aikido, we've found a fitting new home in the heart of Fremont CA.
Why Tri City Aikido?
Three Decades Strong
Since our founding in 1996 by Anthony Campagna Godan (5th degree black belt), our dojo has been a cornerstone of teaching and training in the authentic martial art of Aikido in the Bay Area—now approaching our 30th milestone.
Deep Roots in Japanese Tradition
We carry on teachings from the esteemed Kumano Jyuku dojo in Japan, where Morihei Ueshiba taught Aikido. Yearly instruction from Tasaka Shihan (7th‑Dan) keeps our training methods true to the source.
All Ages, All Skill Levels
Our welcoming environment encourages learning for teens and adults as well as children (ages 4+). We offer empty‑hand techniques, weapon arts (sword, staff, knife), joint locks, throws, and more.
Non‑Competitive, Real‑World Self‑Defense
Aikido isn’t a sport—it’s an answer to conflict. By blending harmony with effective defense techniques, we teach you how not to fight. Instead, you learn how to respond decisively with kinetic force in a non-conflicting way that is respectfull towards our training partner.
What Makes Us Unique
Traditional Japanese Etiquette
The Aikido training at Tri City Aikido supplies the proper etiquette, terminology, and mindset to seamlessly integrate at any authentic Aikido dojo worldwide.
Weapon-Based Philosophy (“Shin Ken”)
Our weapons courses instill serious, mindful practice—one simulated cut can change everything. We carry that mindset into every empty‑hand session.
Philosophy of True Victory
Inspired by Morihei Ueshiba's mantra—Masa Katsu Agatsu Hayabi—we focus on self-mastery, not defeating others.

Anthony Campagna Sensei
Traditional Japanese Aikido Instruction Since 1996
Campagna Sensei is ranked Godan (5th Degree Black Belt) through the Aikikai / Hombu Dojo , the world headquarters of Aikido located in Japan. In 1996, he founded Tri City Aikido in Fremont, California, where he has personally taught 100% of all classes for over 30 continuous years — a rarity in today’s martial arts community.
Over the decades, Campagna Sensei has instructed well over a thousand students in the art of Aikido, helping individuals of all ages develop confidence, discipline, coordination, awareness, and a deeper understanding of both martial principles and personal growth.
Training at Tri City Aikido emphasizes traditional Japanese martial arts values, practical application, personal development, and long-term progression in a respectful and welcoming environment.
Direct Connection to Japan and Traditional Lineage
Tri City Aikido Dojo is honored to serve as an official branch dojo of the historic Kumano Juku Dojo in Shingu, Japan — recognized as the oldest Aikido dojo in Japan and deeply connected to the original teachings of the founder of Aikido, Morihei Ueshiba (O-Sensei).
More than 20 years ago, Campagna Sensei was introduced to Tasaka Shihan of Kumano Juku Dojo in Shingu, Japan — a direct student of the late Hikitsuchi Sensei (10th Dan), one of the closest students of O-Sensei.
Through this relationship, Campagna Sensei has had the profound honor of receiving direct instruction preserving the original interpretations, principles, and methods passed down through Hikitsuchi Sensei and his experiences training directly under the founder of Aikido himself.
The teachings and technical approach preserved within this lineage are considered unique and are rarely found in modern Aikido instruction today.
Martial Arts Background and Philosophy
Before dedicating his life fully to Aikido, Anthony Campagna studied a variety of martial arts including Shotokan Karate, Boxing, Wrestling, Tai Chi, and Tae Kwon Do. However, for nearly 40 years, his primary focus has remained the study of Aikido, its philosophy, and its practical application both on and off the mat.
Campagna Sensei’s teaching approach emphasizes more than memorization of technique. Students are encouraged to develop sensitivity, awareness, timing, balance, and the ability to understand movement through direct experience. The goal is not simply to perform techniques, but to internalize principles that can positively influence both martial training and daily life.
Campagna Sensei’s Message
“If you are ever in the area, I warmly invite you to visit our dojo. Whether you are completely new to martial arts or have years of experience, my goal is simple — to provide clarity, share meaningful insight, and ensure that every person who walks through our doors leaves with something truly valuable.”
