Aikido training for adults
Aikido is extremely different from other martial arts. How so? Aikido is the most efficient martial art that is widely practiced. You will learn to use the least amount of energy to produce the greatest results. Aikido is desiged to be nonresistant. Most martial arts are based off a method that promotes "Colliding" with the opponent force. Aikido is the antithesis of force on force. This principle on nonresistance is amazingly effect and will teach you how to equalize an offset situation by stripping the power of the opponent so they are weak and off balance. Since Aikido is based in physics, it has the formula to succeed. This is why for decades, law enforcement has been using all the control methods for detention and arrest.
One of the obvious characteristics is an Aikidoka’s (A person who trains in Aikido) ability to create flowing movement under stress. A flowing body will be relaxed and everyone knows that being relaxed under pressure is vital for making the best decisions. When training, it is crucial to continually remove the openings you have so an attacker has the most difficult time striking you. The way you stand, the distance created and the initial movements made allow you to take charge of the situation like most can't.
The spirit of the samurai is present in Aikido. Aikido comes from and is in fact a sword art. An Aikido practitioner does not promote pain through competition. In other words, Aikido is not in any way a sport art, it's a true martial art or Budo. Like the samurai, you only draw your weapon when it's absolutely necessary.
Aikido is a martial art which does not offer competition. Training in a budo/martial art like Aikido basically means not hurting anyone unless absolutely necessary. Instead, the focus of the training is on the positive shifting, shaping and honing of a better self. If you can conquer yourself than any other obstacle in your life will be hurdled with ease. Of course, the physical aspect of the art is very positive as well. You will move, stretch and work that body thoroughly in class. It's not uncommon to experience positive attributes like weight-loss and vitality all while learning a martial art. Fitness is a huge priority in society and it is common knowledge that, "Prevention is better than the cure". Get fit with Aikido. Our training facility is clean, pleasant and inviting. Training in the traditional martial art of Aikido is unique in many ways:
Aikido is a physical practice backed by a truly peaceful philosophy. Aikido was developed around a type of thinking that strides towards resolution through nonresistance. If you enjoy banging heads, well then this won't work for you. If on the other hand, if you can imagine a razor sharp sword is moving towards you and common sense tells you not to be there, then you "Think" like an Aikidoka.
